Second Chance Animal Adoption (SCAA) is dedicated to caring for homeless animals in Bonners Ferry, Idaho and the surrounding Boundary County area. SCAA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization run by a board of directors. We have many dedicated volunteers that help to make this organization run efficiently.

We have a thrift store which helps to financially support our mission. We also support our work though donations.

Boundary County's First Animal Shelter is Open!

Come see Boundary County's first Animal Shelter in our new facility located next to Second Chance's Thrift store at 6647 Lincoln St., Bonners Ferry!

What We Do

At the present time, SCAA cares for cats at our thrift store and through foster homes.All dogs are cared for through foster homes. SCAA is actively seeking more foster homes to help with the overpopulation of animals. We show pets by appointment, at the convenience of those who call.

All our animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and de-wormed as needed. SCAA’s adoption committee works VERY hard at matching the correct dog or cat with just the right home. We accept applications for all animals that are up for adoption and choose just the right match.

SCAA has an active feral cat program.The organization has three feeding stations throughout the city and county and several community members have pitched in and also have feeding stations to care for the feral cats that are all spayed and neutered.

The SCAA thrift store in Bonners Ferry is a large part of the organization and something our organization is very proud of.It is open for shopping and donations Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm. The store is located at 6647 Lincoln St. Bonners Ferry, ID 83805. Please stop by and see the wonderful products that are available.

We are a tax exempt 501(c)(3) charity, which means that anyone kind enough to donate to the Second Chance Animal Adoption Shelter can deduct that donation on their taxes. For information on how to donate to the shelter, please see our Donation Information page.
