>Red Heart Fund
When Second Chance Animal Adoption took in a lost Red Heeler the only
natural thing to do was name him Red. He was an adorable old guy who was
made secure in a foster home and the search began for his owner. After
inspecting him for potential injuries it was discovered that he needed
immediate dental care. Although SCAA did not have the money in their budget
for this type of care they could not ignore Red’s pain and infection and
chose to spend the $1,000.00 to treat his periodontal disease and to help
Red be more comfortable. Red recovered nicely from his surgery. Within
days, through a series of strange incidents, Red was reunited with his owner
who actually thought Red had died. Of course they were both ecstatic and
Red is now home safe and sound with his family.
This is a happy ending to a not so happy beginning. Unfortunately many
homeless animals are not as lucky to have the same outcome. Because of Red
and his unique medical needs, SCAA has created the “Red Heart Fund”. This
fund was established for other homeless and stray animals that might be in
the unfortunate situation of needing medical care and cannot receive it due
to not having a family that can care for them.
The Red Heart Fund was founded on Valentine’s Day 2009. SCAA will only use
Red Heart funds to treat a homeless or stray animal that has injuries, is
ill and/or is suffering and requires immediate medical attention. This fund
will not be used for SCAA adoptable animals or any animal that already has a
home.
If you would like to donate to the Red Heart Fund you can mail a check or
money order to:
SCAA Red Heart Fund, P.O. Box 1925, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805.
All donations are tax deductible.
